The Girls Picnic

Having “High Tea” has become much more than the distant afternoon experience you were dragged to with your grandma, in the hope of sneaking something sweet. The British affair has had quite the makeover and now many groups of fashionable friends are donning their best pearls and heels (Chanel and Mahnolo’s thank you very much) and heading to the rooftop bars and gardens in the city to drink champagne and eat decadent treats.

Fancy drinking hole The Emerald Peacock has found it so popular they offer ‘The Girls Picnic’ every Saturday featuring a glass of Chandon NV Brut sparkling on arrival. A feast of goodies follow including a selection of petite Laurent Bakery ciabatta and rolls, baby cupcakes from the Cupcake family and couture vanilla and strawberry yo yo’s.

Perhaps one of the highlights is the stunning scenery. After walking through an unsuspecting doorway on Lonsdale Street, you emerge into a glamorous sanctuary of decadent wallpaper, embroidered ottomans and chandeliers to find your way to a gorgeous rooftop area overlooking the city of Melbourne complete with garden covered rooftops.

Pinkies up for High Tea, emerald views and bubbles.
