Semi-Permanent Design Talks

Have you ever walked past a street poster or album cover or perhaps been to a live event where the lighting was exceptional? You’re probably not aware how much thought went into each of these artworks in order to capture your attention.

Dedicated to sharing these designers’ visions and stories in a two-day series of seminars, Semi-Permanent aims to inspire and educate the next generation of creatives.

Each of the twelve carefully edited speakers are experts in their respective fields. Some have come from interstate, some even as far as the UK, some just from Fitzroy, but each speaker brings a portfolio of work that is incredibly creative and boundary pushing.

Highlights include Andy Jenkins, a graphic designer from the US who uses mixed media and collage to create his work and whose unique style has seen him exhibit his work in many cities across the world.

If you liked the psychedelic artwork on Perth band, Tame Impala’s latest album, you’ll want to come and hear Leif Podhajsky speak about his design style.

UK based creative agency Big Active will speak about how they create brand identities for renowned musicians like Goldfrapp, Beck and Mark Ronson.

After hearing these creative forces speak, you’ll wander around Melbourne with your designer blinkers well and truly open.
