Play me, I am yours

Sydney Festival invites you to play in the streets

From Chopsticks to child prodigy, the 30 pianos placed around the streets of Sydney and Parramatta don’t care who you are or what you know. They just want you to play them.

UK artist Luke Jerram had an idea to use music to get people talking to one another. Birmingham, Sao Paulo in Brazil and now Sydney have all witnessed what happens when you plonk a piano in an unusual public space, like;

Centennial Park
a tattoo Parlour in Surry Hills
Manly Ferry
a bus stop in Parramatta
the Opera House steps
Parramatta’s swimming pool
shhh… Glebe Library

The pianos have revealed many a hidden maestro performing at will for as long as they want. You can even help organise and advertise your performances.

Go have a play. Don’t let those lessons go to waste.
