Ivy league: new CBD entertainment mecca

We were keyed up when we heard about club maestro Justin Hemme’s new utopia – 18 bars, 9 restaurants and ballroom for 1000 revellers. We were suitably excited when he added the 25-metre pool, two luxury penthouses and day spa. It’s probably indecent to tell you how we were feeling when we heard about the street of designer boutique stores as well.

Located on George Street, in the heart of Sydney’s CBD, you’ll find ivy, a four-storey complex like no other in the southern hemisphere. And now that the first of three phases is about to open (we’ve heard on good authority that it will be next week), we can all be a part of the ivy league:
Ground Level
Retail – Mimco, Seduce, Cupcake and T-Bar
The Royal George – a traditional British Alehouse, complete with quality pub food
Level One
ivy bar – the hub: an urban style bar with views over The Patio
Mad Cow – a New York-style grill with a Peter Doyle designed menu
The Kitchen – informal eats: tasty burgers and salads
The Patio – outdoor space centred around the Japanese Maple and a spectacular spiral staircase
Level Two
ivy lounge – cocktail heaven: Mikey Enright’s most creative cocktail menu ever
The Den – an intimate space with warm furnishings and live musicians
Teppanyaki – a modern twist on traditional teppanyaki with a menu created by Shaun Presland
The Terrace – open-air with chic cabanas overlooking the buzz of the lower floors.
Merivale sure knows how to make us very, very, merry.
