Hot Chef Shuffle to Saint Crispin

St crispinHEROThe Patron Saint of Cobblers is a handy guy. Think about it for a second; imagine life without shoes. It’s time to give thanks to Saint Crispin and walk your favourite kicks into his eponymous Collingwood eatery.

This new establishment is the creative exploit of Scott Pickett (Estelle Kitchen & Bar) and Joe Grbac (ex Press Club). The pair met working at The Square, a two Michelin-starred restaurant in London, and have continued their collaboration with the opening of their new joint.

Serving up elegantly twisted dishes like Grimaud duck and heirloom beets with foie gras parfait, Veal cheek on hand rolled macaroni with miso eggplant and almonds, and desserts such as Poached rhubarb, burnt custard and blood-orange, the food is full of surprises.

Set in an old cobbler’s shop (geddit?) St Crispin has a marvellous green marble and copper décor, softened with the warmth of wood. Plush emerald chairs and cosy banquettes invite you to hunker down and work your way through the wine list that was lovingly compiled by sommelier Ben Skipper. Think weird stuff from abroad and local stars; discovery mixed with patriotism.
