What goes around…second edition

What do you get when you cross a bookstore, recycling and food together? We’ve just discovered the answer and wanted to let you in on the secret.

Second Edition is a café and recycled bookstore with great, one off collectable books, magazines and records. We’re not talking old Women’s Weekly cookbooks either; quality vintage magazines like Rolling Stone and Vanity Fair adorn the shelves of this cafe. So if you wanted to know what 90’s interviews with Nirvana were like or read up about Angelina Jolie (pre baby, Brad and social work) you’ll be able to sip on your fair trade coffee, eat a delightful treat from other socially minded enterprises and enjoy yourself.

The best bit, is the whole Second Edition concept isn’t just rewarding you, it’s a social enterprise from the Brotherhood of St Laurence with all profits supporting disadvantaged children. The staff also enjoy the benefits of Second Edition; socially disadvantaged or long term unemployed folk are part of the hospitality and retail skills program, giving them a second chance at employment.

Should you want to score some extra good karma points, you can donate your own books before popping in for a coffee and finding some more winter warming reading.

On Saturday, July 31, between 10-12pm your barista will be none other than Celebrity foodie Matt Preston. The question is, can we vote him off if his coffee isn’t up to scratch?
