You’re lying if you haven’t seen Les Miserables, or at least seen the movie trailer a hundred times on TV. Whether you loved it or hated it, there’s nothing like a strong French chorus and an uprising to stir your patriotic tendencies. Especially when that means celebrating.
Bastille Day is French National Day, also known as La Fete Nationale, and celebrates the storming of the Bastille Saint Antoine on the 14th July 1790. The event occurred 100 years before Les Mis, so you can imagine how much scruffier Hugh Jackman would have looked.
On Sunday 14th July, Bastille Day will be celebrated around the world – with French champagne, parties and pastries. You’ll find all three at Eureka 89, for the annual Bastille Day brunch.
Oui, sipping Laurent Perrier and eating truffled scrambled eggs high above the city isn’t exactly what the French had in mind during the revolution, but it’s a pretty special way to celebrate.
Eureka 89’s Executive Chef Michael Hartnell doesn’t hold back – brioche, sweets, crepes and plenty of Laurent Perrier champagne are on the menu.
