Make more Cooking Space

Having friends over to fulfill your Masterchef fantasies has always been but a dream, given the limited size of your urban living sprawl. But with the launch of Cooking Space in West Melbourne, you can hire professional, commercial cooking facilities for as little as $50 per hour.

Channel your inner Jamie Oliver, impress a new date or perhaps you want to sell cupcakes at a market, run cooking classes or cater for a wedding.

“Time sharing is not a new concept. After all, we already have car and office sharing, so why not a kitchen!” says the founders Eric and Darwin. Together they decided to launch Cooking Space in reply to Darwin’s desire to start a catering arm for his restaurant but not foot all of the costs himself, “Then we thought, what if we fitted out a number of kitchens in one building and shared the cost?”

You’ll find a community of similar foodies hiring the space as well, but don’t worry about feeling crowded – there’s an online schedule for you to scope out a time slot to suit, and the more you cook, the better the hire rates. Pay for what you use.
