Adriano Zumbo lands in Melbourne

Adriano ZumboDoes the word doughnut make your mouth water? Does the thought of eating a macaron make your heart rapidly flutter? What about a zonut? Too much? It’s time to prepare yourselves, sweet treat fiends, Adriano Zumbo’s patisserie is coming to Melbourne. In a matter of days.

On Wednesday October 9, South Yarra is going to get a little slice of Willy Wonka fun. Tucked into Claremont Street, near Mama Baba and Two Birds One Stone, is where you’ll find his first Melbourne store.

What can we expect form the man who created the chouxmaca, a mash up of choux bun and a macaron? New recipes are being whipped up for the Melbourne palate, and we guess only time will tell.

Daniel Texter – German born pastry chef from Noma in Copenhagen – will be heading up the Melbourne Kitchen. With time at Noma and Les Amis the French restaurant based in Singapore under his belt, expectations are high.

While sweet treats might include salted butter popcorn macarons, crème citron ‘sugar lips’ and buttery almond croissants, there will be savoury items to dull the sugar headache. We’re hoping the lamb and African spice sausage rolls and the potato, pesto and omelette vegie bread stick make the list.
