Madame Brussels Lane Becomes a European Night Market

European Night MarketWinter in Melbourne is less than ideal. No it doesn’t snow, but man do we get grumpy. To help us through the cold nights, Madame Brussels Lane is being turned into a European Night Market for four Friday nights starting on July 18.

Inspired by the classic Christmas markets in Manchester UK, Germany and Switzerland, these markets focus on edible treats warming from the inside out. You’ll get to munch on German sausages, Italian bomboloni and sweets, as well as baked pretzels. This wouldn’t be a market in Melbourne without a good booze section. Mulled wine and German Beer will kick things off nicely.

The Fringe will be serving up German Beer, Babbo will be pouring Italian aperitivo, live music will be happening, and pop up stalls will be selling.

With a nice touch of history surrounding you – German born Caroline Baum aka Madame Brussels opened her first brothel on Lonsdale Street in the late 1800s, you’ll feel like you’ve stepped onto a street in Germany.

Dress warmly folks. It’s cold out.

Madame Brussels Lane will be hosting the market of July 18 & 25, and August 1 & 8 from 4pm-late.
