Melbournians love brunch. That is no secret. So this summer Andrew McConnell’s Luxembourg Bistro wants to serve up something a little different for the morning time. No avocado, no superfood smoothies. This is a no fuss, good quality offering. And the prices won’t break the bank. For all those times you’re looking for a simple morning. And of course in true Luxembourg style it is heavily influenced by the ways of European breakfasts.

For the sweet seekers, you can go for a plate of cherries, or a mango cheek, or head to the pastry counter. For something a little larger, almond and coconut granola is served with poached apricots and yoghurt, while the toasted crumpets are topped with strawberries and whipped vanilla ricotta.

If savoury is your poison of choice the bacon roll with house made brown sauce is as simple as you get, while the ham, raclette and truffle jaffle takes simple to a decedent level. If you’re after something a little less sandwich focused you can try the smoked mackerel, lentils, watercress, and yoghurt, or the baked eggs, spiced tomato, peppers, and shanklish.

For drinkables the green juice of apple, sorrel, kale, and celery is the trendiest thing on the menu. Not your thing? Try a grapefruit juice, a cup single origin coffee, or in true European style order a Peach Bellini or a glass Borgo Molino Prosecco.
