Reclaiming nights out, one phone film at a time

That’s right, you heard it here. It’s time to reclaim our nights out. Sundowners with your besties, long lazy dinners with your mates, nightcaps in bars that aren’t just offering the contents of your own alcohol cupboard… We’ve got very good at lockdown life, but it’s time to (safely) get out and see what Sydney’s scene has to offer. One phone company is one step ahead. The Vivo X60 PRO has been used by director Hannah Lehmann to capture an ode to the night out – Start Again. Why this phone?

Aside from having a whopping 48MP Pro camera, it’s the first phone to have in-built gimbal stabilisation. Gimbals are a trick of the trade for filmmakers, videographers and all serious social media makers alike. They help keep your footage sharp and steady.

Now, for some, a good night out doesn’t mean sharp and steady snaps! In fact, Hannah has used the Vivo editing software in the phone to tweak blurry pics of her own, because we all know how some nights end up!

The phone has plenty of room for your first foray into filmmaking, with 256GB Storage capacity to keep you going. There’s also no need for a degree in filmmaking, which we found out the easy way because when we gave it a go, we were up and running in no time. The UI is clear and easy to use, with a 6.5 inch screen giving you plenty of space to play with. The camera will have you feeling like Scorsese pretty quickly! Just don’t forget your fans when you’re famous!

Oscars aside, we’re big fans of the phone’s slender profile – it’s nice and lightweight at 179g and is under 10mm thick so it came along on our nights out no trouble! RRP $1,099

Smart phones with 5G capability can set you back over two-and-a-half thousand dollars in some instanced (looking at you Apple), so when TCL announced that its new 20 Series mobile phones had 5G, alongside a high-spec processor and camera, we had to get our mitts on one. For a company that has made its name in TV’s and audio equipment, they are giving it a fair crack in the smartphone market.
