Treasure society The Society Inc.
If you’re looking for that j’ai ne sais quoi to take your decor from ordinary to magazine-worthy, Sibella Court may just become your new BFF.
A self-confessed hoarder, she scours flea markets around the world for knick-knacks finding treasure in other people’s trash. Think quirky teapots and bohemian blankets to birdcages and rocking horses. ‘Slap-dash styling’ she calls it.
An excess of paraphernalia has allowed her to open up her own ever-evolving store, The Society Inc.
This is how it works. Every three months she dreams up a theme. She rummages through her collection for related artifacts, which she then takes to paint specialists Murobond. They create a 10-colour palette for her, and she sets up shop with matching furnishings.
The good bit? Everything in the store’s for sale.
She’s just launched a new theme inspired by Julien Tanguy, a Parisian paint merchant who lived in the late 1800s to early 1900s. You’ll find a warm mix of reds, oranges, taupes and browns.
Some pieces are also available for rent, and you can borrow paint swabs to see how they look in your own abode.
Don’t dilly-dally. Before long, The Society Inc. will be something entirely new again.
