Zuster opens in Surry Hills

ZusterZuster furniture, originally a Melbourne icon, has opened its hallowed doors in the design-savvy suburb of Surry Hills.

Zuster – is Dutch for ‘sister’. This makes a whole lot more sense when you discover that designers Wilhelmina McCarroll and Fleur Bouw, the powerhouses behind the company, started out playing with doll-sized furniture in their family home.

Third generation Dutch-Australians, the designers still possess a guild mentality wherein art and craftsmanship are combined to create sturdy pieces of lasting beauty. Offering furniture and homewares to suit every room in the home (and office), a Zuster space is minimal without being barren; beautiful without being obvious.

Wilhelmina McCarroll, Design Director says, “Zuster isn’t just a furniture brand; it’s a way of life. I design for the way I like to live – a vision of clean simplicity and sharing moments with those that are most important to me. I feel privileged to be able to share this through our unique designs and enjoy seeing pieces become part of a home.”
