Edible Fashion Collection

“What’s on the menu this week?” we asked ten of our leading Chefs and Fashion Designers located at Westfield Sydney.

You’ll be surprised at what’s been cooking at the inaugural Edible Fashion Collection kitchen. After many hours of mixing, moulding, basting and sewing – think 5 Designer garments curated and styled by leading events specialist David Grant.

Leona Edmiston with David Tsirekas (Xanthi) has conceived a sugary hit known as the “Grecian fantasia” – a hand-spun apricot and lavender meringue dress sprinkled with sugar-coated edible flowers.

Ginger & Smart with Alessandro Pavoni (Spiedo Restaurant and Bar) has fashioned “Neon Italia” – a Calico dress with a risoni pasta crust, glazed with neon green paint and garnished with silver detail.

You’ll find “A Galan of Shells” the produce of Arthur Galan with John Susman (Cloudy Bay Fish Co.), a hand-sewn vest of Kinkawooka mussels and Cloudy Bay clam shells, set atop a silk slouch blouse, finished with nori-seaweed pants.

In the collaboration of One Teaspoon with Amy Chanta (Chat Thai) a black sesame bikini top paired with woven pandan leaf shorts a.k.a “sesame streetwear” has hatched.

And “The Dinner Suit” – a Charcoal black wool suit encrusted with black peppercorns, trimmed with nigella seeds then layered onto a sea-salt shirt is the creation of M.J. Bale with Justin North (Becasse).

Drop by the Australian Designer Gallery at Westfield Sydney this week to get a taste of the ultimate fusion of food and fashion.
