The Stoned Crow

The iconic Stoned Crow has seen it all during its 30+ years; Irish style pub with sticky carpets; the shiny aviary look with a reputation as a cougar hang out; and its newly launched ‘back to nature’ vibe following five months of preening.

Crows like a mixed habitat, and there’s no shortage of places to roost, perch and stretch the wings at this new Crows Nest watering hole.

Think wooden floors, soft cowhide stools, leather banquets, brickwork walls, foliage spilling from hanging baskets and quirky touches like mantelpiece clocks and bookends.

Prime vantage points are a-plenty with the roomy sun-drenched window benches out the front – nab a stool in the sun, sip on one of their signature frozen cocktails, and watch the local punters stroll past.

The pekish can choose from tapas of small but perfectly formed salt and pepper calamari, chilli prawns, chicken liver pate – all served ‘on-trend’ with paddle boards.

Don’t miss the knockout pecking duck pizza with a perfect sweet, chewy, crispy crunchy combo. Eating another member of the aviarium family is even better value on Mondays when all pizzas are $7.

This might just be the perfect spot to flock and nestle up for the evening.

About the author

Karen’s corporate job back in the UK had included entertaining clients in some of the best restaurants. This ultimately sparked a curiosity 'Just how do they do that?' (she confesses she was brought up on meat and vegetables, so this was all very exciting). Currently a Mr & Mrs Smith 'Tastemaker', she’s flashpacked around the world, learning about wine, experiencing different cultures and cuisines and had a two- year love affair with it all. Originally from England, she finally settled in Australia and continues to be besotted by food, wine and travel preferring to focus on the luxury end of town (thread count does matter).
