Welcome to The School of Life

Hands up who could do with a lesson in how to balance work and life? How about learning a thing or two about being better with money? Constant learning as adults is something we should all invest more time in. Personal development outside of your career is something special. It’s something just for you, something to keep your mind open, and something that can often change the way you see the world. The School of Life from Alain Botton knows a thing or two about this. And, good news for us summer sessions, which will run from December 1st to February 28th, are now available to book.

While we have seen things like how to face death and how to have better conversations, this particular term will bring in five new ‘how to’ topics – How to Communicate Better at Work, How to Make Up Your Mind,
How to Choose a Partner,
How to Communicate in Love, and How to Move On from a Relationship. If we all knew how to do these things, the world would be a much better place, don’t you think?

For those not too interested in the how to sessions, there are also a range of other events including a Secular Sermon with Julian Burnside and Archie Roach, an in-conversation event with Del Kathryn Barton and John Armstrong, a New Years three day intensive that incorporates some of the best teachings at the school, and a full day adventure at Luna Park focusing on play in adult life, one of the most beneficial things to mental health that ever there was.

Expanding our minds through practical education, who’s with us?

About the author

Yoga teacher, writer, blogger, and marketing whiz – it’s safe to say Amy Collins is a busy little lady. Her idea of a stellar evening is yoga class followed by a glass of wine. Her favourite quote: “In the end, only three things matter: how much you loved, how gently you lived, and how gracefully you let go of things not meant for you.”
