The Fun Fitness Routine: SkyFit

SkyFitWhen was the last time you smiled during an exercise class? We’re not talking about a forced grimace when the energiser buddy of an instructor asks to ‘see your happy face’.

We challenge you to keep a straight sweaty face during a SkyFit class.

Who wouldn’t have a smile on their dial when they’re jumping up and down on a trampoline? That’s right, SkyFit classes take place inside SkyZone, the trampoline centre in Alexandria.

Instead of an exercise room you each get your own trampoline in a ‘zone’ made entirely out of trampolines. And forget having to grab your dumbbells, weights, bars, boxes and all that other stuff you’d need in a gym class; just hop on in and find your own trampoline square. Each square is well padded, and there’s even trampolines on the walls that bring a whole new meaning to ‘bouncing off the walls’.

If you haven’t seen an episode of Keeping up with the Kardashians, the idea is you spend 30mins exercising different muscles. Skyfit instructors are certified by Fitness First – this is the only trampoline program in the world that certifies trainers to teach on an unstable surface. Classes include Cross Jump, Tightbum, Cardio, Suspend and Core Fit.

No sharing necessary. Everyone gets their very own trampoline!

Star jumps, side jumps, squat jumps, big jumps, little jumps, even jumping competitions; you’ll get to jump your heart out.

But is it a workout? Yes! You’ll be hot, sweaty and red in the face if you give it all you’ve got. The unstable surface is great for core strengthening and we challenge anyone to do 10 star jumps with an elastic around their angles and not feel like they’re on their way to buns of steel.
