Rockpool Rocks On

rockpoolheroWhen a restaurant has occupied the same site for more than five years in Sydney, it’s considered a local institution. When it hits a decade, that’s practically demigod status in the culinary scene.

Well Rockpool has been around since 1989 – that’s 24 years of Neil Perry’s perseverance and commitment to turning fine dining on its head.

Marriage proposals, weddings, private dining, parties, politicians, celebrities – if only those walls could talk.

Well now there are new walls and new memories to be made. Rockpool has moved to 11 Bridge Street, not too far from its old spot, but definitely far enough to bring a change.

There are still long lunches and the infamous date tart, but now there’s also a more relaxed vibe. And whilst serving seven canapés before a one course dinner that costs $125 certainly can’t be considered ‘casual’, the a la carte lunch is new and when you consider the commitment to fresh ingredients and the skill behind Perry’s team, that’s practically a bargain.

With the doors now open, and more than 1200 wines in the cellar, Rockpool is back better than ever.
