Portobello bride market

Boutique inspiration for weddings

If wedding bells are ringing for you or a friend, but the thought of attending a wedding expo with puffy meringue-style dresses brings on an anxiety attack, then this will please.

The Portobello Bride Market, created by wedding aficionado Kim Billing, Is an independent and boutique-wedding market (not expo) for couples that prefer more niche and modern, less desperate.

Expect more than thirty stalls “that feature the best of the best”; ensuring no stone is left unturned for brides-and-grooms to be. Whatever your dream wedding style (art-deco, vintage, modern, feminine), you’re bound to find inspiration here.

Take a peek at the new bridal range by Australian designer Fleur Wood and sample food from boutique caterer of the year (2010) Ed Dixon Food Design. Try jewellery designs (more like pieces of art) from the Melbourne jewellery gallery e.g. etal, see props from Inside Out Style Director Glen Proebstel’s company Prop.d and even pesticide-free flower options by Blumin.

Italian designer Luisa Beccaria (store in South Yarra) will also be there, who is adored by celebrities all over the world, dressing A-listers like Nicole Kidman, Sarah Jessica Parker, Madonna, Eve Mendes and Sandra Bullock.
