Its a dog-eat-hotdog world

Dog-friendly bites

Let’s face it; the art of eating out is best enjoyed when you’re surrounded by friends. But when that includes ‘man’s best friend’, it can sometimes be difficult to find a place that welcomes both you and your furry one.

Glebe Point’s newest addition, Blackwattle Café has recently opened, much to the delight of locals who love to walk their dogs down by the ANZAC Bridge foreshore. The heritage building’s million dollar views are a great foil for an after work Campari and soda to go with your potted trout en croute, or chicken liver pate. The staff are gracious about leashed buddies and will happily pour you…and your dog, a drink.

Northside dog lovers should head to Shot Café in Mosman, just by The Gunner’s Barracks, for similarly stellar views. The human menu features a rotating seasonal menu and a cracking coffee. Pull up a pew, while your pups chill out in Bark Park – there’s plenty of shade, somewhere to tether the dawgs and Scooby snacks abound.

Aptly named Butch Foods, in Camperdown is owned by organic pet food company Sassy Treats creator Luciana. What that means is that when you pull up for a morning coffee and jaffle combo, or a lunchtime fix, your dog dines well, too. It also goes without saying that a freshly filled water bowl is always on standby for thirsty mutts, while you sip your flat white.
