Head of the Class

World Class National Final

What traits does the ideal bartender possess? A big smile, a devil-may-care attitude and a shoulder to cry on? Long eyelashes, a long memory and an even longer pour?

The criteria differs from punter to punter but there are some absolutes; they must have an encyclopaedic knowledge of all things drinkable and a finely tuned palate so the drinks they turn out are well-balanced and perfectly blended.

On the evening of June 7th, the country’s best bartenders will go head-to-head at Neil Perry’s Rockpool to score a trip to New Delhi to compete at the global World Class Grand Final.

Join Australian Gourmet Traveller’s Pat Nourse, Wish Magazine’s Angus Hughson, Time Out Sydney’s Myffy Rigby and drinks blogger Ben Shipley to help select the best bartender in Australia.

The competing bartenders will be tasked with creating an elegant cocktail to match the flavours in a 5-course degustation prepared by Head Chef Phil Wood.
