Gilt Lounge is the New Go To Guy

In Sydney when it comes to good bars we usually go down – Grandmas, Lobo Plantation, Baxter Inn, Palmer & Co – basement bars are all the rage, but we’ve got a newsflash, it’s now all about being above ground.

Gilt Lounge is QT Sydney’s is located mezzanine level of Gowings Bar and Grill. Bypass the busy restaurant bar and head upstairs to this hidden hotspot. Dark and moody, it has the atmosphere and hard liquor of any basement bar but it also has windows and space. You won’t be perching on bar stools with your knees knocking your neighbor (unless you want to).

With space for 60 people, the room wraps around a balcony looking down on the Gowings main floor, and is designed for a late night tipple or two. And boy to they have you sorted for beverages.

A brand new seasonal cocktail list is just calling out to be tested. A partnership with French champagne house Perrier-Jouët puts this bar even higher on our hit list. Friday night, a champagne cocktail – what more does a city slicker need? The three new signature cocktails show off the bubbles at their best. The Gilty Bellini takes the classic and ups the ante with an Earl Grey tequila. The Champagne-Sider brings a Perrier-Jouët syrup (champagne simmered with sugar) and Encanto Pisco together in beautiful harmony, and then there’s the Royal Collins pairs Perrier-Jouët with Haymen’s Old Tom Whiskey and Yuzu.

There’s also plenty of other cocktails that have a little fun with the classics – think Ghost of Mary and an Elderflower G&T.

Whether it’s a night cap after dinner downstairs or just a spot to settle in for the evening, Gilt is our new late night go to guy.
