A Little Naughty & Oh So Nice at Duck Duck Goose

Duck Duck GooseOn the weekend we want to be healthy, but not too healthy. We want a green smoothie but we might want pancakes too. Enter Duck Duck Goose, Randwick’s newest café.

This is not your cookie cutter bacon and eggs joint. Nor is it another Eastern Suburbs superfood stop. It’s a little from Column A, and a little from Column B, and the mix is perfect. Think sweet potato with caramelised pear and streaky smoked bacon. A little bit naughty but oh so very very nice.

Upcylcing at its best

Stay clean and lean with house made coconut bircher muesli or get an energy boost with a hearty slow cooked lamb shoulder and cous cous salad. Whichever way you go, save room for a banana and date smoothie.

The team behind Duck Duck Goose are keen to keep things local and fresh. There’s a strong commitment to sustainability – the ingenious packing palette wine racks are a DIY dream. They’ll have you itching to hit Bunnings before you’ve even finished your spelt and honey banana bread. Owner Nick Porter had the shelves custom made for the space, along with the herb planter boxes. He made the cool upcycled lights himself – using bicycle wheels for a new spin on things.

He’s also spent plenty of time making sure the little ones are well looked after, with a cute kids play area up the back of the café. A big chalk board, toys, plenty of space for strollers and a cracking kids menu keeps everyone happy.

Keep an eye out for dinner when their liquor licence kicks in – the 4.30pm-6.30pm seating is designed so the kids get dinner early while parents enjoy a glass of wine and a charcuterie board. Everybody wins.
