Biero boutique beers

Would you like any beers with that? Rather than matching your meal with wine, Edwin Koh and his team at new bar Biero are backing the merits of matching beers with great food.

So strong are their convictions about bringing unique beers to Melbourne’s CBD populace, they’ve opened Biero bar on Little Lonsdale with a new type of beer-tasting technology. Biero’s Beervaults™ allow the beer to be poured cold and fresh for up to three days, so you can experience beer the way the brewer meant it to be enjoyed.

No longer are expensive brews available only by the bottle. This week you can sample from the tap 3 Ravens Dark Smoke, which comes out of a brewery in Thornbury; BrewDog 77 Lager from Scotland; or Chevalier Biere de Garde from Beechworth Brewers in regional Victoria.

You can also find a range of bottles from Meantime Brewery, London, who were awarded Brewer of the Year in 2008; Primator Bock and Dopple Bock – from the Czech Republic; and two exclusive bottles of BrewDog’s Tactical Nuclear Penguin. Edwin tells us BrewDog is doing some amazing things with beer at the moment but they’re really hard to find in Australia (and they’re actually 32% alcohol!)

Learn a thing or two about the local and international beer brewing scene from weekly events focusing on a particular country. Last week it was amazing beers from Belgium, and this week will be the UK.
