Barre3, The Holy Trinity of Fitness

workoutHEROScarlett’s lips, Ange’s legs and K-Mid’s nose… We’re getting pretty specific about how we want to look these days.

But here’s a perfect equation you don’t have to go under the knife for (not that you’d ever need to anyway): The strength of an athlete and the grace of dancer.

You might even get Madonna’s arms in the process.

Madge’s other offspring, Hard Candy Fitness, has been cloning itself in all the world’s glammest cities. And now, the work-hard-play-harder fitness club has landed in Sydney offering for the first time in Australia its smart, sophisticated, signature ‘barre3’ workout class.

Barre3 was founded in 2008 by U.S fitness instructor Sadie Lincoln. She add together yoga, Pilates and the ballet barre to get this fitness holy trinity, strengthening your body and lengthening your muscles while also shaping up your posture (heels aren’t the only way to walk a little taller).

Each class is filled with dynamic stretching and sequences at both the barre and on the mat for fast body shaping results. Using a small range of movement (down and inch, up an inch), your barre3 certified instructor helps you challenge your upper, lower and core body by striking a pose. Think less vogue and more ‘power leg’ – a pose where you karate chop the barre and balance with raised heels.

And here’s another answer to the equation: 600. That’s how many calories you can sweat off with just one 60-minute class.

See you at the barre.
