Spin Spin Sugar – Get Your RPM Fix in our Spin Workout Guide

Youtopia 1Spin classes can be a little intimidating for the uninitiated – all that shouting and ‘no pain, no gain’ type motivation. So we’ve jumped on our bikes and sussed out three of the best workouts in Sydney to give you a super RPM fix.

Youtopia Spin
Hate the cookie cutter approach at gyms? You’re not alone. Fitness junkie and Youtopia Founder Stacy Raddatz gets you.

Her boutique fitness facility is home to 14 state of the art Keiser M3 spin bikes and a personal training studio where Stacy and her team work closely with you to help you achieve your goals. These should include 45 minute full-body workouts minus aggressive trainers, cramped spaces and uncomfortable bikes. She’s taken the ‘Soul Cycle’ workouts made popular from America and distilled the fun bits, so you feel encouraged but ultimately workout at your own pace and comfort.

Besides burning up about 450 calories per session, you don’t need to be co-ordinated and it’s suitable for all fitness levels. Better still there’s no membership fees or contracts. Spin classes start at $15 per session.

Hypoxi 2

Hypoxi
Our favourite workout to whittle away cellulite and trim down before major events (think your wedding day finest or resort holiday best).

You have Austrian Dr. Norbert Egger to thank for creating a revolutionary training device coupling gentle bike exercise with advanced vacuum technology.

It’s a little strange at first exercising with the application of gentle negative and positive vacuum pressure, but this is what supercharges your workout to target stubborn fat and reduce cellulite around the hips, buttocks and thighs.

Be prepared to have your body measurements taken along the way. The good news – there are plenty of Hypoxi users that see great results after just 12 sessions – think losing up to 30cm from your trouble spots and reducing the appearance of cellulite.

Best of all, each session is only 30 minutes in length, and typically conducted in a private studio environment very amenable to reading your favourite magazines or watching SITC re-runs. There’s no need to slog it out for hours at the gym.

The ZoneThe Zone Cycle Class
Prefer cycling through the Italian Alps, or maybe the Grand Canyon? The Zone’s instructor led, virtual cycle class is your ticket (minus the jet lag).

The 30 minute RPM is the indoor cycling workout where you ride to the rhythm of powerful music, sweating and burning your way through hills, flats, mountain peaks, time trials, and interval training.

You’ll love the distraction of the big screen as you cycle through locations around the world, but don’t forget you’re there to improve cardio, destroy calories and boost active lean muscle.

There’s no such thing as a free ride, so get on yer bike and work it!
