Saturday InDesign

Its friends call it SID. And it has a lot…friends, that is. It’s Saturday InDesign and, since 2003 when it started in Sydney, it’s been sharing its love between two cities. Melbourne, being its other closest pal.

For the design community, it’s one of those must-do annual events. Product launches. Networking. A place to drool over the latest top-drawer designer furniture, finishes, fixtures and lighting showrooms with keen-eyed architects, design students, interior designers and any lovers of all things fine and fancy. Us. You.

Representing the North side of the Yarra, a treasure chest of established icons and up-and-comers in the the industry include Christopher Boots (lighting innovation), Great Dane (clean lines and oh-so spare beauty) and Materialised (upholstery fabrics that cater for both function and finesse).

Then there’s the CBD set – including Envoy’s corporate crispness and the frivolous foot-friendly delights of Godfrey Hirst and his bespoke carpets. The Richmond design crowd have a presence too.

300+ brands, 80 companies, 50+ locations. All intent on spreading the message that great design matters. With a variety of forums and meet-the-designer opportunities, it’s a great research tool to kit out your own home sweet home. Just like artists, designers go up in value. Get to know them now and you might be glad you did when your friends all want that chair you picked up for a song.
