The Truffle Shop pops up at St Ali Next Door

Not that you need any other reason to visit St Ali than that it’s St Ali … but throughout the month of July you’ll find The Truffle Shop pop open Next Door, Thursday to Sunday.

Madame Truffles will be selling freshly harvested truffles from Tasmanian (rumoured to be sweeter), Western Australian (more closely resembling the French sort) and New South Wales. The Madame thinks all Australian truffles are divine and will leave it up to you to decide your preferences.

You’ll find lumpy, swollen, super ‘Tuber melanosporum’ a.k.a Truffles, sold whole and in sizes ranging from the very small (18g) to the much bigger, up to 500g. Hear her favourite recipes; how to enjoy truffled scrambled eggs for breakfast, truffle and mushrooms on toast for lunch and shaved truffles on pasta for dinner.

You’ll learn about the distinctive aromas and tastes of truffles and how one small truffle can go a long way. But if you prefer someone else to do the cooking, for Bastille Day (Thursday 14 July), Scott Pickett, Executive Chef of The Point and owner of The Estelle, will create a trufflicious menu at St Ali. For this rare dining opportunity, at a cost of $85 per head (including wine) please book through joanne@stali.com.au.
