Lights, camera, bacon!

Get a taste of the silver screen at Fitzroy’s the Commoner, where chef Jo Corrigan and her team have come up with a year-long series of menus inspired by cult flicks.

The first role reversal will premiere on Thursday February 2 as hot birds escape the kitchen for Poultrygeist. Then five more classics – Claws, Whisky Business, Back to the Butcher, Belicatessen and Planet of the Canapes – are due to get the culinary carve-up throughout 2012.

Each will be launched on the first Thursday of every second month by a guest speaker. Poultrygeist and Whisky Business launches will be proper sit-down degustations (whisky connoisseur Franz Scheurer hosting the latter); the others take the form of stand-up cocktail parties. Then, for the rest of the month, a special five-course degustation menu will run alongside the Commoner’s regular Brit-inspired offerings.

Let the good times roll.
