MBFWA 2013: ELLERY

What everyone was talking about: The noteworthy (we’re still in construction mode) show space located on Castlereagh Street. The Belvedere bar and fromagerie stand – why not be luxe fed before a show? A model trio; Julia Nobis, Hanne Gaby Odiele and Ruby Jean Wilson stomping it down the runway with Vincent Gallo’s film Buffalo 66 playing in the background.

The Collection: Polar opposites are explored; recklessness and control, light and dark, masculine and feminine, bandits and nuns. Structure plays a crucial part in this collection which can be seen through sharp, defined silhouettes formed with fabrications including cotton lace aplique, faux fur, silks and leather detailing. The colour palette is gold, black, white, silver. You’ll love the modern take on the cheongsam, short shorts (yeti jacket optional), and the return of the ELLERY signature flare pants. ‘Renegade’ is misfit cool for grown ups.

The Look: Minimal, matte with a Napoleon Perdis nude lip. Hair is out and perfectly dishevelled.

Addicted to: The jewellery – silver and gold ELLERY palm cuff and small stacked rings made especially by Petite Grand. Taco Dog (the most fashionable four paws in Sydney) welcoming guests.
