Test Driving the new L’Oreal Paris Infallible Range

LOreal_Infaillable_lcastaConfession: at Daily Addict HQ we’re flagrant make-up polygamists. And quite certain there are more brands in our make-up drawer (read: cupboard) than there are in most pharmacies. Say a name, and we’ve had a fling. It’s not that we don’t love the one we’re with at the time, just curious about other options. Aren’t your twenties (hey, let’s add thirties and forties too) the time to experiment?

There is, however, one exception to our philandering ways, and that exception is foundation. Each of us has very specific desires when it comes to the underpinnings of a flawless everyday look and we understand why you too might approach new foundations more hesitantly than you do feathered eyelashes or pots of gold glitter.

After seven days road testing L’Oreal’s new Infallible range our beauty writer Hannah shares her experience:

When L’Oreal’s Infallible face range landed on my desk, all signs appeared positive. First of all I’m a sucker for good packaging, and the revamped bottle looks better than a lot of perfumes. A little more investigating reveals some big ticks off my foundation requirements list: it’s SPF 20, has a natural finish, and best of all, the new formula promises an impressive 24 hours of continuous coverage.

To get the full benefits of the Infallible range’s long wear, pump out the liquid foundation and smooth it onto your face in an outwards, direction, blending it into the neck and using a brush to give it a seamless finish. For the powder, deposit a small amount onto your forehead, the bridge of your nose and your chin and dust over your face in outward strokes. (You can get fuller coverage by dampening the compact’s sponge before dipping it in, but given that it was 7am I decided to skip that test.) Finish with a little of the concealer under the eyes.

After four hours under my office’s abrasive air conditioning, I walked down to the café to meet with a client. Normally I’d do a few touch-ups prior, but after glancing into my compact mirror I couldn’t see any signs of make-up meltdown. I thought maybe copping a few hairy questions would speed up the erosion process, but afterwards my skin still looked pretty flawless – no shine, no patches, and no caking. Apparently those oil-absorbing mattifiers also work to combat stress-induced perspiration. How’s that for a confidence-boost?

At 6pm I headed out to meet a few friends at a new bar in town. Without getting all Sex and the City, this is why a good foundation is so important to me. I normally always have a work event or happy hour to hit as soon as I clock off, and I’d rather not bring face shine or dry-out with me. Luckily all I needed today was a swipe of lip colour and my face looked more awake than it did that morning.

Would I use it again? Totally, especially on crazy week days when I need something that makes it look like I don’t actually work 24/7!
