H&M Opens in Melbourne

Lucas Dawson PhotographyWhen the news of H&M opening swept through town, we all expected big things. When we found out it was taking over the iconic GPO building, we expected great things. But, after walking through the racks in the newly opened H&M Melbourne, we think it’s fair to say, no one expected just how grand it would be.

The 5000 square meter heritage building has been completely transformed. White walls, neons and light globes have taken over the once dark space. Three levels and countless escalators later, it’s a land of its own.

Opening to lines around the building on Saturday April 5, Australia demonstrated just how eager we were for this fashion powerhouse to make the trip south.

Along with the H&M range of apparel, underwear, active wear, nightwear, and accessories for men, women and kids, there will be a specifically designed ‘Australia Exclusive Collection’ featuring 47 items of limited edition apparel and accessories for both men and women. This collection has been designed with the Australian lifestyle in mind capturing both a Bohemian woman and a surf beach ‘dude’.

With many members of the floor staff team training in the UK before the opening, expect knowledgeable and attentive staff, who word on the street will work over night to restock the floor.

There is a clear shift from International retailers to make the trip to Australia with most recent news of Sephora opening in Sydney. We have to say, we are thrilled with the trend. Keep it coming.
