Pick up the Pace with Disco Yoga

Disco YogaDo you regularly spend some time on a yoga mat, love going out and experiencing music? Read on as there has been a coming together of these things.

It all started with Hip Hop Yoga at Yoga 213 in South Yarra where Sammy Veall brought us down dog to Snoop Dog, direct from LA. And now, the next thing to hit our yoga mats is Disco Yoga. Yep that’s right. A mix of yoga, dance, and community in one 90-minute fast paced Vinyasa flow class.

Disco Yoga creator and Melbourne based yoga teacher Nickie Hanley is the brains behind this new experience. For Hanley, Disco Yoga is a coming together of her favourite things: yoga, music, community togetherness, positivity, empowerment, and clean living. All the while, having fun while you’re at it. Let’s be honest, it would have to be difficult to frown while dancing and downdog-ing.

Since finding her love of yoga in 1995 Hanley has created her own unique style of Vinyasa flow that incorporates her dance background and love of music. It is smooth, strength building, continuously flowing, and spiritual. The creation of Disco Yoga seems like a natural extension of this.

Teaching at a wide range of studios, you can check out Hanley’s full schedule at Disco Yoga. The next Disco Yoga is at Australian Yoga Academy in Seddon on Saturday 7th June, then at Chunky Moves on Saturday July 5th. From then on they will take place every two months at roving studios in Melbourne and quarterly at Chunky Moves. All updates will be on www.discoyoga.com.au.
